Commentary:
Much was happening in China before World War II and the Japanese invasion. In the 1920s, Joseph Stalin sought to promote the spread of communism around the world. It found fertile ground in China under Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai. They organized the people in one of the northern provinces and created the Army of the Communist Party of China. The nationalist forces, under Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek, was backed by the United States and other western powers. In the early 1930s these two forces collided and the forces of Mao Zedong made the “Long March” to the south to escape the Nationalist forces under Chiang Kai-Shek.
Let’s get started with our exploration of this march. Please pursue the references to examine this topic further… GLB
